Obama should be known by the company he keeps
Mom always said I’d be known by my friends…
It appears President Obama’s mom didn’t pass along that little gem. I must admit though, I do find it more than a little disconcerting that he’s gotten a pass from just about everybody on this character issue.  I understand the media pass, but I can’t, for the life of me, understand why the Republican “leadership†and the Republican POTUS candidates – dating back to McCain – continue to give him a pass.
Let’s look at a little history.
Jeremiah Wright. That would be Rev. God Damn America. Walter Williams highlighted this relationship on Townhall. The Obama’s were close personal friends and church members for twenty years and somehow missed the well publicized – even at the time – diatribes of their pastor. I’ve been a Christian and a churchgoer for thirty plus years and I understand that many – OK most – parishioners have probably forgotten the sermon by the time they hit the parking lot, but come on.
Bill Ayers & his lovely wife Bernardine were also covered by Williams. And they would be the WeatherCouple. Those folk who spent the 60s, 70s and a chunk of the 80s involved in domestic terrorism and things that some of us would consider out of the norm, like murdering police officers and things like that.
Kwame Kilpatrick, the former mayor of Detroit, and former resident of federal prison. Mr. Obama supported Kwame’s political career, campaigned with him and extolled his virtues on YouTube. Just before the indictments were handed down.
Rod Blagovich, former Governor of Illinois and soon to be resident of federal prison. Governor Blagovich is spending the next 14 or so years in the greybar hotel for attempting to sell President Obama’s Senate seat to the highest bidder. Of course Mr. Obama knew nothing about that.
I’m sure there are more examples. Probably lots of them. I’m just tired of looking, so we’ll fast forward to today. [drum roll please]
John Corzine. Former Governor and Senator of New Jersey. Former head of MF Global. (This is a family site, so I won’t speculate on the “MF†part of Global.) At MF, he was running the show when about $1.2B of investors funds went mysteriously missing. Hey, I lose stuff all the time. If I had $10 for every time I’ve had to ask Mrs. Becker “where’s xxx†I could retire. I will admit though, there’s no way I’d lose $1.2B. Oh, and at one point President Obama was reportedly considering Mr. Corzine for the Treasury Secretary’s job, calling him an “…’honorable’ man’ and one of his ‘best partners’…â€. Given that the current resident of that chair has poured several TRILLION dollars down the nearest rat hole, it probably would have been a good fit. Anyway…
It turns out that yesterday The Weekly Standard got a screenshot of the President’s 2012 campaign bundlers. Guess who was on the list, having raised more than $500,000 for the President’s reelection? Come on, guess. Yep. That would be former Governor & Senator & MF Cash Loser, John Corzine. My question is simple, Corzine “lost track of†$1.2B. Will the rest of it show up as a campaign donation?
And, I do have a couple of other questions, mostly for the media and the White House Press Corps (corpse?). Any chance you folks are going to start asking why the President spent twenty years in Wright’s church and managed to miss what everybody else clearly knew? How about why he spent a good chuck of his time in Chicago hanging out with Ayers, etal. They weren’t causal acquaintances. Or the Blogman? Or Kwame?
OK, we’ll give you those. But how about Corzine? And would there be any chance the SEC might check his drawers?
The President has a serious problem whether the media wants to admit it or not. His “friends†are crooks. Lots of them. I would dare say “most†of them. This is not good. Republicans get all worked up over a POTUS candidate who divorced a couple of wives. Guess what folks, consorting with multiple felons, terrorists and people who openly state – to a standing ovation – that God should “damn Americaâ€, is a much bigger deal and he should be called to account at every opportunity. Not by the media, I know better. But certainly by the people who profess to be leaders of the Republican party.
