A few of the games, including Wordament and Pinball FX 2 are already available in the Windows 8 Release Preview via the Xbox Live Games app.
Additionally, Microsoft has announced a partnership with Atari, which will yield some of the game maker’s classic games such as Asteroids, Centipede, Combat, Lunar Lander, and Missile Command. The classic Atari games are available at Atari Arcade and feature an updated touch-friendly design and rejuvenated graphics. Predictably, these games are opperationally at their best when you use Internet Explorer 10. In particular, according to PCWorld, the user experience is optimized when using, “the formerly-known-as-Metro version in the Windows 8 Release preview. When you use IE 10, you also get an ad-free experience with Atari Arcade.”
Microsoft will also be adding the Xbox SmartGlass app to Windows 8, some time in the coming months. With Xbox SmartGlass, you can use a phone or tablet to enhance your games and entertainment experience on Xbox 360.
