WaPo Fact-Checker Blasts White House Sequester Scare Tactics. As often as we are want to point out media lapses, let’s highlight a media outlet doing their job. Bravo the the Washington Post for their shining the light of truth on President Obama’s lies regarding the sequester.
I’m reminded of the the idiom, Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. We’ve had four years, and four more years ahead of us, of what has become not simply an anomaly, but a well defined pattern of behavior.
Can any reasonable thinking person honestly say they can believe anything stated by President Obama?
WaPo Fact-Checker Blasts White House Sequester Scare Tactics
‘The sequester is not something that I’ve proposed. It is something that Congress has proposed.’ – Barack Obama
The President of the United States is lying. He’s not lying about his personal life sex ala Bill Clinton, he’s lying about policy. And he’s not just lying, he’s brazenly lying; audaciously lying. Obama and the media know the stakes in this battle are enormous. If the GOP and sequester can’t be blamed for our failed economy, Obama and his big government philosophy will be.
That simply can’t be allowed to happen.
‘Good heavens’ the media is thinking. ‘What if the people start to compare Obama and Reagan’s approach to handling a devastated economy!?’
So, Obama lies. And for the most part the media had blindly played right along. But thanks to Bob Woodward leading the way, a few brave members of the media’s Cult of Obama have woken up (if only for a moment) and risked a backlash from their colleagues by reporting the truth about Obama and his sequester lies.
Yesterday, the National Journal absolutely destroyed President Chicken Little’s dishonest scare tactics — not directly, but the point was still made. Today, Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler takes his own shot with a piece that blows a hole in the White House lie that sequester will force the elderly to eat dog food:
The administration may rue the day that it issued so many scary statistics with such specificity. If sequestration remains in effect for the rest of the fiscal year, reporters will certainly attempt to check whether the administration’s predictions came close to reality.
In the case of meals for seniors, the administration did not even bother with the usual ‘as much as’ modifier. It simply asserted that 4 million meals will disappear. Given that federal funding is just one-third of the funding source, and the 4 million figure represents a relatively small part of the program, it is hard at this point to justify such specificity.
Before we get all weepy thinking the media has become morally literate, Kessler lists five media outlets, including USA Today, that fell for the meals-on-wheels lie hook, line, and sinker.
Also to his credit, just a couple of days ago, Kessler awarded the full boat of Pinocchios (four) to Obama’s Education Secretary for this outrageous lie:
It just means a lot more children will not get the kinds of services and opportunities they need, and as many as 40,000 teachers could lose their jobs. … There are literally teachers now who are getting pink slips, who are getting notices that they can’t come back this fall.
As I write this, Bob Woodward is being savaged by the media’s Cult of Obama for daring to upset and challenge The Sequester Narrative. Though Woodward never said he was threatened by the White House, the media is saying he said that in order to attack his credibility.
Neat trick, huh?
The primary reason for the tearing down of a legend is to warn others in media if they have any ideas about running off The Narrative Plantation. Nothing terrifies the media more than a ‘runner.’ The Narrative is everything, and it only takes one to threaten the entire fascist charade.
Never thought I would ever write this, but kudos to Glenn Kessler. If we’re lucky, the very few in the elite media willing to tell the truth about sequester are now enjoying this strange feeling of being actual reporters again; as opposed to Obama’s stenographers and Palace Guards.
Imagine living in a country again where the President can’t get away with lying.
Dare we dream?
