All politics is local as evidenced with today’s local rally to Recall Colorado State Senator Evie Hudak. 10:00 am found between 100 – 200 supporters and volunteers gathered in Arvada, Colorado, to bring awareness to the public of the groups efforts and hear words of encouragement from former Colorado Representative Tom Tancredo.
The recall group is a grassroots organization who’s mission statement says:
We are a grass roots committee of concerned citizens. We feel this effort to Recall Evie Hudak is important because she no longer represents the voters of District 19.
The group points out in detail their concerns and foundation for the recall effort:
Whereas Senator Evie Hudak has sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Colorado, it is our opinion she has blatantly disregarded her oath. She has infringed upon our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. She has voted to make all citizens less safe and to drive hundreds of jobs from Colorado. She has limited, denied or otherwise refused to hear testimony from citizens holding views incompatible with her own. She has rushed legislation on important issues, including billion-dollar spending and tax bills while ignoring the voice of the people. So cavalier is Senator Hudak toward the legislative process that she suggested a coin flip to decide major tax legislation. She has offended the sensibilities of men and women by openly insulting women and rape victims. She has voted for legislation that continues to raise taxes on the hard-working citizens of Colorado. In these instances and more, in word and deed, Senator Hudak has turned her back on we citizens of Colorado and our Constitution. It is clear Senator Hudak has dishonored her sworn oath and commitment. Accordingly, we the citizens of Colorado must exercise our right to recall Senator Hudak from office
Those involved in the recall effort have 36 days to gather their necessary 25,000 signatures to initiate the recall. According to recall group members their door knocking efforts in gathering signatures is showing a positive 70 -82% conversion rate. Some things that local voters need to know about Evie Hudak:

She pushed for organized labor to have more Co State contracts (Sen Bill 1, 2012) and for a billion dollars in tax increases to fund teachers unions.
Pushed for Prop 103, a $3 billion tax increase which Colorado voters rejected by nearly 2:1.
In total, she pushed for more than $4 billion in tax increases.
In the November 2012 election the Libertarian candidate (Sweeney) took nearly 7% of total vote and may not have been legally on the ballot.
We will continue to follow this story as the time draws closer to delivery of the signed petitions to the Colorado Secretary of State.
