“…we discussed the fact that Ho Chi Minh was actually inspired by the U.S. Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the words of Thomas Jefferson.”

— President Obama talking to reporters alongside Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang.

President Obama has insulted the United States of American, a nation founded on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This news won’t come across very welcoming to those families who lost a loved one during the Vietnam War.

After a meeting with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang Thursday, President Obama openly said to the press that Vietnamese Dictator Ho Chi Minh, one of the worst tyrants in Eastern Asia was inspired by America’s Founding Fathers, according to Fox News.

Wait, Obama likened Ho Chi Minh, dictator, murder and tyrant to that of Thomas Jefferson?

In the meeting, Tan Sang brought a copy of the letter to President Obama, that Ho Chi Minh had sent to President Harry Truman where the communist dictator expressed his desire to cooperate with the United States.

Obama said, after 67 years, the United States and Vietnam are finally enjoying that relationship Ho described. After all, Ho had been “inspired by the words of Thomas Jefferson,” Obama continued.

The point Obama was making:  If only Ho and Truman could have come together like Sang and Obama did this week, many tragedies would have been avoided, according to Fox News.

So, are they saying that the Vietnam War was a complete waste?

While Jefferson didn’t do everything right, and he had moments where he was fired up, it is humiliating and insulting to think that Jefferson, the Third president of the United States inspired the hateful, murderous and evil career of the Vietnamese dictator. Ho slaughtered his opponents mercilessly including peasant farmers who were just trying to survive. It is reported that close to a million people were murdered in Ho’s attempt to remain dictator. Even during the final U.S. retreat, thousands of of Vietnamese were put to death, according to Fox News.

Ho used Lenin’s tactics, murder, terror and reeduction to obtain and expand his power, according to Fox News.   And imagine, President Obama says that Thomas Jefferson, signer of the Declaration of Independence, one who fought to preserve life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, was the inspiration behind this madness.

Ho lived for a large part of his early life in America, working in hotels in Boston and New York. He spoke and wrote English fluently and was a great fan of Shakespeare, Dickens, etc. He was very inspired by the American constitution and way of life. I think the article may be getting him mixed up with Pol Pot.
During the final American withdrawal from Saigon, Ho had been dead for six years so he won’t have been ‘putting anyone to death’ then. Is the author seriously saying that the entire death toll of the Vietnam War was as a result of Ho’s ‘attempt to remain dictator’? A bizarre and completely historically inaccurate assertion.
One of Ho’s most famous quotes is, “it was patriotism not communism that inspired me” and as somebody else says on here, there was a time when he could have been taken under the US wing, and he then spent a long period in the non-aligned movement in the 50s. He was a close friend of the Isreali president David Ben Gurion and India’s president Pandit Nehru.
He nearly died in the jungle during WW2 and the Americans parachuted a doctor in and saved his life, as he was then seen as pro-OSS and pro-American. Truman miscalculated dreadfully.
As the Vietnamese guy says below, there is a great deal of ignorance in this article. Fox News is a poor source of research.
