I do not agree with the genetic culling that these guys are touting, but the shot he makes is impressive so I had to throw this video up.
Genetics are a tricky thing and biodiversity is one of the important factors that helps keep a population healthy. Having a wide and veried gene pool helps to fight off inbreeding and the negtaive impact it can have on a breeding herd.
Harvesting animals that have “undesirable” traits may or may not have the effect some people think.
For example, the size of antler spread varies each season and depends on more factors then just his genetics. Culling the a herd of bucks with smaller antlers is no insurance that the next generation will have statistically larger antlers. Nutrition and environmental conditions can play a huge role in determining the health of a heard.
