UPDATE: Reports Suggest Oregon Campus Shooter May Have Been Targeting Christians (And Thoughts on Toby Reynolds)

UPDATE FROM THE EDITOR: As we began to suspect earlier, and as has now been confirmed, Toby Reynolds may have a disturbing online presence but is NOT the confirmed gunman. Click here for the full name of the confirmed gunman.

Anonymous 4chan users who earlier exposed a forum discussion where they say the Oregon campus shooter allegedly warned what he planned to do are now saying they know who he is. The group is spreading the user’s name and image on social media.

They allege his name is Toby Reynolds. The user used screen name “eggman” in the forum.

While none of this is confirmed by government officials at this time, CNN and Fox News are referring to the discussion we posted screenshots of and suggesting it very well could be the real deal.

An attorney would not even see this guy for a consultation, sorry, but lawsuits need a basis-in-fact, and this has none.             It’d be fun for me, hell yes! I’d be famous! Not only would I get a touch of fame and infamy, but all of my employees would get the biggest kick out of it! So would my husband, our kids, our friends, my family, the only people who would bug me would be people who didn’t like me. And who cares about them? No one.

            It’s not like the police even talked to him, sheesh. This site just reported what the kid’s own website reported about him. It is literally what journalists DO. They don’t pull info out of thin air, they get info from whatever sources are giving it. Sadly, in a rush to be among the first, they — for a few hours — ran the story that Reddit (or was it 4chan?) still has up. The kid can sue the Internet, ha.

            You would probably never be able to get a job.

            Employers would google your name to find things out about you, and hopefully find your facebook page. All of these hits with you being a school shooter would pop-up. Even if the employer realizes it wasn’t you, they’ll know that you come with a bad reputation and therefore choose not to hire you.

            I own a smallish business. I don’t do the initial interviewing, but I do the final interviews and many candidates do in fact warn us that their name will pull up lots of false positives, aka other people with similar names who have bad stuff attached to their names but aren’t guilty.

            It’s common-fricking-place to have completely false (and provably false) info about you online. The MILLISECOND that this Harper-Mercer kid became famous, Eggman lost all fears of his name’s affiliation with the school shooting. He’ll get more luck on job interviews, if anything.
