According to the McDonald’s Corporation, a Thursday morning tweet charged with an extra side of anti-Trump rhetoric was the result of the fast-food chain’s official Twitter account being ‘compromised.’
The offensive tweet which was posted early Thursday morning and ‘pinned’ to the top of the McDonald’s Twitter feed has since been deleted, however, not before it was seen and shared by thousands of followers on the social media site.

While the McDonald’s Corporation has yet to issue any sort of public apology on the matter, they did issue the following statement from the same account where the offensive tweet originated:
Twitter notified us that our account was compromised. We deleted the tweet, secured our account and are now investigating this.

Naturally, the tweet caused spark controversy on social media with both sides of the political spectrum chiming in to condemn and support the attack against President Trump who was once as featured a spokesperson for the iconic American fast-food brand.

Additionally, it is worth noting that is it highly unlikely a business such as McDonald’s would be willing to intentionally bite the hand that has fed them, considering Trump who has been yuge fan of the brand for years gave them free publicity following his Republican nomination win… But stranger things have happened.
