Saying goodbye to man’s best friend is never easy, however, when one is forced to make the heartbreaking decision to end the suffering of a faithful friend that has spent the better part of their life protecting yours, that decision comes with unimaginable pain…
As reported by Inside Edition, this is exactly the scenario soldier Kyle Smith was faced with after his K-9 partner 11-year-old Bodza’s degenerative illness progressed to the point the inseparable pair ran out of options.
Bodza, a retired military German Shepherd who served by Smith’s side since the team was first deployed to Kyrgyzstan in 2012 had been suffering with a debilitating degenerative illness which targeted his spinal cord, forcing Smith to make the heartbreaking decision to put him down.
Standing by Bodza as he took his final breaths on this earth, Smith conformed his partner on last time before the four-legged hero was draped with an American flag to honor his faithful service to our great nation.
You’re a good boy Bodza, rest easy little soldier.
