A Pakistani man has been accused of posing as a woman to lure a young boy out of a mosque in Abu Dhabi following afternoon prayers to rape the child according to Abu Dhabi authorities.
As explained by The Sun, the horrific incident took place after young Azan Majid Janjua was lured away from the mosque following afternoon prayers and recitation of the Quran by a man only identified as a Pakistani who immigrated to Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Police Major General Maktoum Al Sharifi has that the suspect purposely “cross-dressed as a woman because he knew that the boy would not go with a man without permission from his parents.”
Azan’s father, 38-year-old Dr Majid Janjua explained to media that “He was fasting and he went to the mosque for Asr prayers and Quran recitation and then went missing.”
Young Azan’s lifeless body was reportedly found by AC technicians on rooftop after while they attempted to repair a malfunctioning unit.
The Pakistani man allegedly raped the boy before strangled him with rope.
Azan’s half-naked body was discovered on May 31 on the rooftop of the building where he lived with his Quran beside him.
He was found by air-conditioning technicians who had gone on the roof to carry out repairs.
The suspect, a Pakistani immigrant to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, was arrested less than 48 hours after the body was found.
He has confessed to the crime and is said to be known to the family of the victim.
Local reports claim forensics have found evidence linking the suspect to the murder.
The boy’s father is from Pakistan and his mother in Russian.
