An illegal immigrant living in Laredo, Texas accused of striking three women with a vehicle in back May has reportedly admitted to authorities that intentionally targeted them because he was ‘just upset with women in general’ according to a criminal complaint.
As reported by the Laredo Morning Times, the suspect identified as 24-year-old twice deported illegal alien Lorenzo Alonso Romero stated he purposely targeted his first victim out of retaliation because she had filed a police report against him two years prior to the incident and the others were simply targeted out of frustration.
According to the criminal complaint, Romero stated to authorities that “he was upset over the fact that approximately two years ago, his neighbor had filed a report against him, in which he was arrested for an aggravated assault, claiming the allegations to have been false.”
Seeking vengeance, Romero reportedly borrowed a black 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora from the used car dealership which he worked and intentionally struck the three women after stalking them on street.
[May 27] police responded to reports of an auto-pedestrian incident at 7:57 a.m. at Washington Street and San Francisco Avenue. Paramedics took a woman to Laredo Medical Center for treatment for abrasions and bruises she sustained.
Two hours later, a second auto-pedestrian incident was reported in the 1800 block of North Milmo Avenue. A black four-door car had run over a woman twice. Police later learned the suspect vehicle matched in both cases. She too was taken to LMC.
Then, a third call was made to 911 reporting that a black car had struck another woman. EMS crews took her to LMC as well. Authorities went to the hospital to speak with the women.
Sickeningly, the horrific incident was not the first negative encounter Romero has had with law enforcement.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement recently said Romero has been deported twice. Currently, he is held at the county jail on an immigration detainer.
He too has a prior arrest with LPD.
On June 8, 2015, he allegedly tried to stab a man who was with his wife or girlfriend, authorities said. While investigating that case, police said they discovered Romero had been involved in two other assaults involving two women.
In one case, police said he grabbed a woman by the neck after she told him to stop drinking alcohol. Authorities said Romero attempted to stab another woman in the second case.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a knife or cutting instrument and assault, family violence in connection with the incidents.
Court documents show the charges were dismissed Aug. 26, 2015 due to insufficient evidence.
