Why Are Beltway Republicans Freaking Out Over CNN’s Collapse? Isn’t This What America Demanded?

Rush Limbaugh hit the nail on the head when he discussed the CNN collapse and the viral Trump meme the network is panicking over. America has, for decades, complained about mainstream media. And American voters elected a man who pledged to do something about it.

That man is doing exactly that. Trump is fighting the mainstream media tooth-and-nail. He’s doing exactly what we all want him to do. And, as Limbaugh notes, he’s doing it all by himself.

Here’s what Limbaugh said.

I think it was last week or the week before, I forget which, but I openly stated on this program that we are witnessing the decline and eventual demise of CNN. And that statement was picked up by several in the Drive-By Media, and panels were assembled to discuss my premise. “Do you really think,” it was asked on Fox News, “do you really think this could be the end of CNN?” It is the end of CNN.

My point about this, a lot of people are nervous. Trump supporters are nervous about the tweet. Not everybody, but some Trump supporters are nervous about the tweeting and they’re nervous about him taking on CNN. For everybody who’s wanted something done about the media, this is what it looks like. For everybody’s who’s complained about “inside-the-Beltway-itis” and how it happens and says we need to drain the swamp or whatever, this is what it looks like.

It was never gonna be pretty. It was never going to appear rational or normal. I mean, this is a huge battle taking place that Donald Trump is waging single-handedly. Now, he’s got his supporters out there, don’t misunderstand. The social media army is out there supporting, and he’s not alone in this. But in terms of electoral politics he pretty much is alone in this, and he continues to take it to them. And they clearly do not know how to deal with Trump.

Indeed, we’re witnessing the complete meltdown of CNN. Right before our eyes. Something much of our society has known needs to happen. Something even establishment Republicans have wanted to happen.

It’s now happening and a lot of the people who claimed they wanted it are now freaking out. It’s amazing to see how many beltway insider pundits and Republicans are uncomfortable with what’s happening. They’re like deer in headlights, trying to figure out if they should defend CNN or lash out at Trump.

As John Boehner would say to the GOP caucus… it”’s time for all of these people to get their asses in line. CNN is a massive corporate propaganda machine and we all know it. It needs to collapse, and we should be grateful Trump is taking the lead in the fight.

This isn’t a time for cowardice. This is a time to step up and pile on. This is the moment we’ve been waiting for. And it’s going to tell us who was serious about the fight and who wasn’t.
