Retired Gwinnett County Police Department K-9 ‘Draco’ has won his very own legal battle after being sued as an ‘individual’ by a robbery suspect apprehended back in 2013.

While this bizarre story may sound like something off of the satire site the Onion, Draco the Belgian Malinois was named as an individual (alongside of other officers in the department) for the July 6, 2013 arrest of burglary suspect Randall Kevin Jones who claimed the K-9 used excessive used force against him.

You read that correctly…

Randall Kevin Jones. (Photo: Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department)

Two years after his being charged with burglary and obstruction, Jones decided to file the unusual lawsuit against ‘Officer K-9 Draco of the Gwinnett County Police Department in his individual capacity.’

According to court documents, Jones alleged that Draco used excessive force because he was ‘viciously mauled’ during his apprehension and that the K-9 officer had held his arm for what ‘seemed like a lifetime.’

Additionally, Jones accused Draco of ‘tearing his flesh and permanently injuring and disfiguring him, while … officers stood by and failed to intervene.’

Dog bites man. Man sues dog. Dog wins.

When a federal judge rejected Gwinnett’s initial attempt to dismiss the lawsuit, the county appealed. On Friday, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta threw out the case against Draco.

“We hold that a dog may not be sued individually for negligence since a dog is not a ‘person,’” Judge Robin Rosenbaum wrote for a unanimous three-judge panel. Georgia law, she noted, does not allow such claims to be litigated against dogs.

The mere notion of allowing a lawsuit against a dog raises abundant practical issues, Rosenbaum added. How would you formally serve the lawsuit on a dog? What about the dog’s retention of legal representation? How can a dog be expected to pay damages?

The 11th Circuit decision also dismissed Jones’ claims against three police officers at the scene. The court did not address one remaining claim — that the county failed to properly train its police force, which played a role in Jones’ injuries.

Speaking in regards to Draco who retired from the department in mid-2014 after seven years of service, Gwinnett PD spokeswoman Michelle Pihera recalled the K-9 as ‘an amazing animal.’

“His K-9 handler thought the world of him,” Pihera stated to the media.

Jones pled guilty to charges of burglary and obstruction back in August 2014 and was sentenced to one year in confinement as well as 10 years probation.

In an effort to teach inmates marketable skills that can assist them in finding employment outside of jail and to encourage good behavior on the part of those craving something more flavorful than standard cafeteria chow, a Chicago jail is offering the incarcerated gourmet pizza.

The unorthodox program known as a ‘Recipe for Change‘ allows inmates housed in the jail’s medium-security Division 11 to not only order gourmet pizzas directly to their cells for only $7 dollars, but is also intended to teach aspiring inmate chefs how to cook.

The program is reportedly part of Chicago Sheriff Tom Dart’s efforts to improve conditions for inmates in his facility, as well as teaching usable skills that will help individuals gain employment upon release and stay out of trouble in the future.

Speaking on the matter, Dart told the Associated Press that “We’re teaching skills to make them more marketable when they get out of here.”

Explaining that inmate sales help fund the program, Dart additionally noted that he hopes to soon acquire a food truck so that his jailhouse pizzas can one day be offered outside of correctional facility walls.

Additionally, chief policy officer Cara Smith explained that the program offers inmates a great incentive to behave behind bars.

“If any detainee assaults staff or engages in misconduct they’re moved out of that division, and they’re not able to purchase the pizzas… So it’s an incentive to behave.”

How can you get a gourmet Italian pizza delivered right to your door for no more than $7? Get locked up at Cook County Jail in Chicago.

Pizzas have been served and prepared behind bars before…

But it’s safe to say Dart is the first jail administrator to bring into his facility an Italian chef to oversee an operation in which inmates bake a couple hundred pizzas a week in a $16,000 oven and deliver them piping hot to the cells of captive customers.

Other programs Dart has introduced include using chess to teach inmates about problem-solving and patience, and sending inmates from the jail’s boot camp to tear down abandoned buildings.

The pizza delivery service is an outgrowth of a program called “Recipe for Change” that’s run by Bruno Abate, a chef and owner of trendy Chicago restaurant Tocco , that teaches inmates about cooking and nutrition.

(ANTIMEDIA) Phoenix, AZ — The latest massive price increases in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum have boosted the credibility of investors who criticize the fiat currency system. Unfortunately, precious metals haven’t followed in crypto’s footsteps yet, and heavy losses over the last few years have led many people to write off the asset class altogether. Owning things like gold and silver in the United States has either been outlawed or stigmatized since the Great Depression, but recently, real progress has been made towards once again recognizing them as legal tender.

In anticipation of the growing problems with the national debt, individual states across the country are seizing the opportunity to protect themselves and their citizens from financial repression. Twenty states have already eliminated sales taxes on precious metals transactions, but some are taking it even further. The most recent bill was H.B. 2014 in Arizona, which classifies U.S.-minted coins as a form of currency and even eliminates capital gains taxes on qualified precious metals. These kinds of simple actions directly threaten the power of the U.S. Federal Reserve, and any competition to the U.S. dollar undermines the central bank’s longstanding monopoly.

Representatives in Arizona worked on this legislation for years, and thanks to the support of people like Ron Paul, there was enough pressure on the governor to sign it into law.

Dr. Paul explained why this bill is so crucial for the future:

“HB 2014 is a very important and timely piece of legislation. The Federal Reserve’s failure to reignite the economy with record-low interest rates since the last crash is a sign that we may soon see the dollar’s collapse. It is therefore imperative that the law protect people’s right to use alternatives to what may soon be virtually worthless Federal Reserve Notes.”

We ought not to tax money, and that’s a good idea. It makes no sense to tax money,” Paul told state senators in March. “Paper is not money, it’s a substitute for money and it’s fraud.

Utah was the first to implement this new policy of empowering state governments against reckless federal incompetence when they passed H.B. 317 in 2011. This bill not only recognized coins as a form of money and eliminated taxes on them, but it also encouraged the state to study how it might establish an entirely new system of legal tender if needed.

Each state that stands up and refuses to be condemned to bankruptcy by the bloated bureaucrats in D.C. puts additional pressure on this failing paper Ponzi scheme. Only when enough people recognize the destructive road we’re heading down and demand a change will the federal government and banking institutions be forced to adapt. These growing pressures aren’t just manifesting domestically but can be seen developing around the world.

The growing uncertainty surrounding America’s future role in the international arena has inspired nations like China and Russia to establish their own currency exchanges that bypass the U.S. dollar. Their leadership in the BRICS nations has put them in an influential position in the developing world. Along with India, they are among the world’s largest gold buyers and have created reserves that could serve as a basis for a new reserve currency. This development of a new trading bloc in the East is being referred to by some as “The New Silk Road.”

Daily Reckoning analyst Byron King discussed how turbulent the current circumstances really are:

“Up to now, there has never been anything approaching a serious challenge to the global supremacy of the dollar — certainly not in global trade. Yet here we are, watching Russia and China set up a proto-trading system based on gold. The daily quote for gold seems not to price in even a hint of this development. Yet it could have world-altering implications as it all unfolds.”

The current economic realities affecting our quality of life will continue to force local representatives to take action while Congress faces gridlock. Without establishing alternative options for communities across the country, our entire standard of living may fall fully into the hands of the establishment politicians in Washington DC — more so than it already has.

There is a subtle ongoing realization that no matter what the pundits and politicians claim, there is no easy way out of this mess. The public’s confidence in central banking is clearly eroding, and hopefully, it will be enough to allow a new kind of financial freedom that hasn’t been seen in the United States’ economic system for over 100 years.

(ANTIMEDIA) It’s no secret that Google already monitors its users’ online shopping activity, but now it will follow them out of their homes and keep a close eye on every interaction they make. The tech giant announced a new system to track users’ in-store credit card purchases Tuesday in a statement published on the company’s official blog.

Google rolled out the new tool at Google Marketing Next, an annual event geared toward advertisers where the company unveils its newest innovations in marketing. “Store sales management” works by pulling data from Google’s third-party partnerships, which capture approximately 70% of credit card transactions in the United States. The system then streamlines user information in order to generate reports automatically sent to merchants who opt in. The reports will measure the effectiveness of online advertisements by matching in-store transactions back to Google ads.

According to the Associated Press:

Google says its computers rely primarily on log-in information, such as email addresses, to identify the people clicking on ads. It then matches that data with other identifying information compiled by merchants and the issuers of credit and debit cards to figure out when digital ads contribute to an offline purchase.”

This is ultimately an upgraded version of Google’s “store visits measurement,” which was rolled out in 2014 and updated in March 2017. This tool utilizes deep learning technology to analyze vast amounts of user data, including email addresses, ad clicks, browser and location history, and user surveys.

Miro Copic, a marketing professor at San Diego State University, told the Associated Press that “the privacy implications of this are pretty massive, so Google needs to tread very carefully.”

Following the implementation of ‘work requirements’ for Georgia’s food stamp program, over half of those deemed ‘able-bodied’ without children have reportedly been dropped from the program after missing the April 1st deadline requiring them to gain employment.

As reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, prior to the April 1st deadline 11,779 individuals across 21 counties were identified as able-bodied for work purposes and thus required to find employment to continue receiving benefits.

According to the AJC report, following the deadline 62 percent of those receiving benefits were dropped from the program after failing to meet the requirement, reducing the total number of able-bodied recipients in those affected counties to only 4,528.

Is this really a surprise to anyone?

Georgia has been rolling out work requirements for food stamp recipients for over a year. The latest round affected some 12,000 people in 21 counties, several in metro Atlanta, who are considered able-bodied without children.

When the April 1 deadline came around for them to find work, more than half — 7,251 — were dropped from the program, according to state figures released this week…

State officials say they plan to expand the work requirements to all 159 counties by 2019, with another 60 coming on board next year.

Bobby Cagle, director of the state Division of Family and Children Services, has said, “The greater good is people being employed, being productive and contributing to the state.”

“This is about protecting taxpayer dollars from abuse, and taking people off the cycle of dependency,” [Rep. Greg Morris] said. The big drop in numbers, he added, “shows how tax dollars are abused when it comes to entitlements.”

Food stamps come from federal dollars, but the program here is managed by DFCS. Some 1.6 million Georgians receive food stamps.

In the last few days, the campaign to impeach Donald Trump has quieted down. We’ll see what happens; but is this breathing space and pause the result of a stalemate? Do both sides have “control files” on each other? Is the underlying proposition, “I won’t spill your secrets if you won’t spill mine”?

I now refer to an article about Trump and his enemies that has been circulating online. I don’t know who the author is. His views and opinions make an interesting circumstantial case. Here is an excerpt:

“James Comey is a poisonous snake of the highest order… a deep-water Swamp Denizen who has been highly paid to deliberately provide cover for high-level corruption by the Clintons and Obama. He is has been central to trying to destroy the Trump campaign and then the Trump administration from the start. He is as dirty as they come in DC. He had highest-level cover (the FBI no less) and was deep into an effort to eliminate Trump. Trump had to move hard, fast, and at exactly the right time to cut the head off the snake without getting bitten by the snake or being finished by the other swamp denizens.”

“Begin by noticing how the President fired Comey when Comey was 3,000 miles away from his office, that Comey had no inkling he was being cut, that all his files, computers, and everything in his office were seized by his boss Sessions and the justice department. This was not a violation of protocol, it was tactical. Notice how Prez Trump compartmentalized the strike and did not inform any of his White House ‘staff’ to prevent leaks. Notice how he emasculated Comey and the swamp denizens by letting them know in a tweet that the Attorney General got information (surveillance ‘tapes’ from the seizure of Comey’s office) to let Comey and his handlers know that Trump’s DOJ has the goods on them. This was a brilliant, strategic and totally imperative move at exactly the right time against horrible, evil and corrupt powers infesting our government.”

“The swamp is on notice that the President is on to them, they are sweating bullets because their criminal games of corruption are being pursued and they know it. They are screaming and ranting because they are desperate denizens of the swamp who are beginning to realize they are roadkill.”

The article goes on to describe the purported depths of Comey’s corrupt connections to the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation, as their agent.

In the author’s view, Trump and Attorney General Sessions have the goods on the Clintons now, and also have damning evidence of crimes committed by other key players in the DC swamp.

There is another possibility.

Given Donald Trump’s history as a real estate hustler from way back, his acrobatic financial dealings with money men, his projects’ bankruptcies, his celebrity status, his impulsive proclivities, his extraordinary self-promotion, it’s obvious his enemies have compiled a “control file” on him. They have the sort of information they believe they can use as serious blackmail.

In that case, we could now be looking at a stalemate of sorts. Both sides have the goods on each other.

This is no guarantee of a permanent peace based on Mutually Assured Destruction; but MAD could form the basis of a truce. And the truce could extend into the future.

“I have your secrets, you have mine. Now let’s do business.”

Of course, we have to remember that Washington is a tinderbox at all times. It’s a dry forest waiting for a match to be struck and a spark to fly.

We will see whether Trump drains the swamp, the swamp drains him, or nobody drains anybody.

The present war in Washington isn’t for the faint of heart, or the nice people who want everybody to get along, or the suburbanites who want all participants to be awarded trophies. Washington is Crime Central and the knives are out in full view. It’s a fashion parade in the devil’s cave. To paraphrase Harry Truman, if you can’t stand the overflowing toilets, get out of the bathroom.

Washington is a land of insanity, psychosis, spying, panic, and excrement-throwing.

When you try to connect the dots, you see they have blood and lies and hatred and coup-plotting and impeachment and even the ghost of David Rockefeller embedded in them, as opening and closing little clams and sharks and crawling worms and blobs of unidentifiable species try to take Donald Trump down. And he, of course, wants to take them down…

It would be no surprise if the people who hold each other’s secrets are staring at a “nuclear freeze” pact on the bargaining table: “you can’t blow me up without me blowing you up.”

Also consider players within the US intelligence community. Bothe CIA and NSA have been spying on officials in Washington and other prominent Americans for a long time. These agencies hold secrets as well.

And then there is the organization whose members and alumni Trump has surrounded himself with:

Goldman Sachs. Through his key appointees from the “vampire squid” firm, Trump is working an audacious angle. He knows that if the stock market takes a long and horrendous dive, the pressure on him is going to be enormous. The “business community” will blame him. The media will claim the economy is collapsing under his watch. Goldman can make many moves to keep the stock market up. What does the firm want in return? That’s the magic question. Threats of war, and war, in order to keep contract money flowing to the military industrial complex? Special and undetectable favors? Protection from prosecution for ongoing financial crimes? And what does Goldman Sachs know about Trump? What would they be willing to reveal, if he backs away from any part of the agreement he has struck with them?

The mutually assured destruction pact has more than two sides. Holding together a multi-faceted truce isn’t the easiest job in the world.

Everyone involved has something to gain and something to lose. Calculating upside vs. downside is a delicate proposition.

And, in the midst of this, crazy people can show up who go off on the spur of the moment. They blow their corks, and all bets are off.

For now, cooler heads are prevailing.

For now.

Blackmail, extortion. It’s not the only game in town, but it’s the big one. It lurks around every corner, it sits in every conference room, it weaves its way through legislation, policy, and judicial decision.

It’s the other branch of government.

With British Prime Minister Theresa May warning that another attack may be imminent, Medal of Honor Recipient Dakota Meyer says that it’s time to strike Islamic State strongholds without mercy, because sooner or later we could well witness suicide bombers detonating themselves in the middle of large crowds right here at home.

Arguing that President Obama, who awarded Meyer his Medal of Honor, was weak on ISIS and terrorism in general, he says President Trump should take a completely different strategy.

In short… it’s time to unleash the gates of hell…

I’ve been saying this is going to happen for a long time.

When is it coming here?

I think the only way you get this point across is that we release the gates of hell on them and we start making war so ugly that…their recruitment videos… it won’t be cool to join ISIS anymore.

And at some point we’re going to have to do that… this labeling of ‘it’s a lone wolf’ attack… or saying it’s not connected or this or that…

You can’t just ignore this problem because it’s going to come here…

The only thing I am optimistic about with this situation is that we have a President… think whatever you want about his politics…

At least we have a president that’s in place that’s not going to allow us to be the victims… you can guarantee he’s going to do whatever it’s going to take… no matter if it’s popular in the court of public opinion… he’s going to do what’s right to protect America…

Our guess?

Or could it be the more obvious reason, that being Muslims are isolated because of Islam’s violent ways?

Following the Manchester concert bombing which left dozens dead and many wounded, Rep. Jackie Speier (D., Calif.) has chimed in on the topic of Islamic terror with an answer so completely void of reality that it will leave you shaking your head.

During an interview with MSNBC Tuesday, Rep. Speier was asked by host Stephanie Ruhle since “ISIS has now claimed responsibility, is there any evidence you’ve heard to back that up?”

Ready for this?

In response to this ‘does a bear poop in the woods’ type question, Rep. Speier stated that “No” she has not heard or seen any evidence to tie the attack to the Islamic State before dropping the following little gem.

“The real issue is whether or not Muslim youth around the United States and around the world feel there’s a pathway forward for them, or do they become so isolated that this is their only avenue of making a statement about their religion…”

Since Speier’s interview on Tuesday morning, British authorities have confirmed that Abedi was part of a terrorist network, not a lone-wolf attacker, according to NBC News.

The revelation by police Wednesday came as British troops were deployed to protect landmarks in major cities and six more suspects, including suspected bomber Salman Abedi’s younger brother and father, were arrested.

“It is very clear this is a network we are investigating,” Manchester Police chief Ian Hopkins said. “We are carrying out extensive searches.”

NBC also reported that U.S. intelligence and law enforcement officials said the bomber was known to them before the attack.

Those officials also said that Salman Abedi had traveled outside of the UK and had recently returned. As one official put it, “This is a similar situation to the brothers in Boston. We wish we knew more about the travel.”

Another official said, “We knew he was going a little crazy and left, but he went quiet and returned a few days ago, and we had no information about him in between.”

Following Melania Trump’s visit to a Vatican-affiliated hospital Wednesday, the First Lady announced that she is ‘filled with joy’ after learning that a little boy who had touched her heart would be receiving a much needed transplant to save his life.

Stating that only hours after her visit with the young boy she learned that the Bambin Gesù Hospital in Rome had found the child a donor.

“Upon landing in Belgium, I learned a young boy and his family who had been waiting for a heart transplant was informed that the hospital has found a donor… I read a book and held hands with this special little one just a few hours ago, and now my own heart is filled with joy over this news.” The First Lady stated.

The life-changing call was hailed as a “miracle” by many on Twitter, who were thrilled that Melania had brought attention to the boy’s plight with her visit.

Trump’s rep, Stephanie Grisham, said the hospital visit was “very emotional” for the first lady.

Melania, who speaks five languages, spoke in Italian to the children, the Daily Mail reported. “She spoke to them in Italian, she signed bandages and she took lots of selfies,” Grisham said.

Fox News shared the good news of the boy’s heart transplant, hailing it a “miracle.”

Singer Charlie Daniels who is best known for the hit song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” has just penned a scathing open letter to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, calling the Democrat nothing more than a miserable man without a ‘drop of happiness‘ in his life.

Stating that Schumer has ‘opened Pandora’s box’ with his relentless attacks against President Trump, Daniels blasted the senator for being unable to look ‘inward at the real cause‘ of Hillary Clinton’s lost election… Such as the former Secretary of State’s long history of malfeasance.

“Instead of looking inward at the real cause for your party’s loss, you had to find a scapegoat, and if it hadn’t been Russia, it would have been something else.” The letter reads.

Addressing the witch-hunt against Trump in regards to alleged Russian collusion, Daniels dropped the gauntlet asking Schumer if was willing to swear to God and the American people that he truly believes the president stole the 2016 election.

“Will you lay your hand on a Holy Bible and tell America that you believe in your heart that Donald Trump has actually colluded with Vladimir Putin and the Russian government to the detriment of the United States of America?”

Sen. Schumer, I don’t live in your constituency, but in the larger picture, you live in mine and every other legal, taxpaying American citizen who is affected by the power you hold in your political party, your blind allegiance to it and the obstructionist posture to anything that doesn’t directly benefit it.

There’s something sinister about seeing you bent over the lectern in the Senate Chamber, your countenance resembling what I would imagine Edgar Allen Poe’s would look like reciting one of his macabre tales of doom and gloom, as if there is not one drop of happiness in your life, forecasting a dismal future for America if anything President Trump proposes passes both houses, is signed and becomes law.

I know you’re disappointed… And I know you just can’t face the truth that what happened in the election was exactly the same thing you continue to do: you forgot about the working people; you forgot about the empty factories of the rust belt; you took for granted the high crime, low employment inner cities you’ve made unkept promises to for decades.

Instead of looking inward at the real cause for your party’s loss, you had to find a scapegoat, and if it hadn’t been Russia, it would have been something else…

…Did or did not Hillary Clinton sign off on allowing a Russian agency to purchase a company holding up to 20 percent of America’s uranium production capacity?

…Who leaked the classified information that started this ball rolling? For the investigation to be valid, that has to come out.

…Did Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s State department, through incompetence, indifference or both, allow four American citizens to die in Benghazi?
